BEGINNER CLASS - This class is for the very new Design Space user. Design Space is the software that tells your Cricut what to do (it’s a little bossy, but manageable!)
What you need to know – You should have unpacked your Cricut and followed the instructions to cut your first project. You also need to have downloaded Design Space to your laptop and have set up an account prior to class. This class will start at this point! (No worries! We will go slow!)
***Design Space does work on a Mac or iPad. It is basically the same for both Mac/i-Pad and a laptop. Some functions are in different places and navigation can be different as well. Since I’m not familiar with the keyboard or commands, I am limited to how much I can help you, however, you are certainly welcome to attend class as you will still be able to learn what Design Space can do!
What you need to bring – Since you have already set up your Cricut and cut your first project before you get to class, you will only need to bring your laptop, with Design Space up and running (if you get
What you will learn – The basics.
-
The Canvas – Tips and Tricks, including saving your project! (Wouldn’t want all that hard work to be wasted!)!
-
Templates
-
Resize the Screen
-
Save vs Save As
-
Inserting basic shapes – circles, squares, rectangles and how to size/recolor/etc. of them.
-
Inserting Images from Design Space (we will learn how to search!!!). You don’t need the paid version. Even if you have the Free version, this will be very helpful.
-
Basic Text. Mainly getting your “words” onto the mat (Canvas), change sizing, change fonts, just basic stuff.
-
Offsetting. This will give your image a shadow/mat/border (Cricut calls it an “Offset”) that’s a bit larger than the actual shape and a different color.
-
Materials and What to Do with them - (and how to tell the difference in HTV and Regular Vinyl when you’ve thrown away the packaging!)
-
If we get through all of that in less than an hour, (I don’t want to rush you and I do want to allow for questions) we can talk about “Make It” and the options there.
